AlcoaCompletes$300MillionAutomotiveExpansion in Iowa
toMeet GrowingDemand forAluminum IntensiveVehicles

NEWYORK&DAVENPORT, Iowa--Alcoa (NYSE:
AA) announced it completed a$300million expansion
at itsDavenport, Iowa facility dedicated to supplying
aluminum sheet products to theautomotive industry.
Alcoa executivesmade the announcement as
the 2014NorthAmerican International Auto
Show (NAIAS) inDetroit displays a number of
vehicles featuring large increases in aluminum
content. According toautomakers, demand for
aluminum to produce vehicles—already the
second-most-usedmaterial used tomake cars to-
day—is expected to nearly doubleby 2025. The
amount of aluminumbody sheet content inNorth
American vehicles is expected toquadruple by 2015
and increase tenfold by2025 from2012 levels.
“2014marks the beginning of dramaticgrowth for alu-
minum in theauto sector,” saidKlausKleinfeld, Alcoa
Chairman andChief ExecutiveOfficer. “Automakers
are increasingly choosing aluminumas a cost-
effectiveway to improve the performance,
safety, durability and fuel efficiency of their
vehicles. Our project in Iowa is the first of
three capacity expansionswe haveunder-
way tomeet this growing demand.” Inaddi-
tion to its expansion in Iowa—for which long-
term supply agreements have been se-
cured—Alcoa is adding automotive capacity inAlcoa,
Tennesseewhich is scheduled to be complete inmid-
2015; andat its joint venture rollingmill inSaudi Ara-
bia, tobe completeby the end of 2014.
